Mrs. Helen Marie Heagy, 81, a pioneer of the Willow Bunch and Lisieux districts, died recently at Moose Jaw.
Born in Chicago, she was the eldest of nine children. The family first moved to North Dakota, and then to Canada in 1910. During the first part of that winter the family lived in a sod-banked tent at Willow Bunch until a house was built.
In 1915, she married Frank Judson Heagy and they homesteaded at Lisieux. They lived there until 1928 when they moved to the Kanten school district where she remained until moving to Assiniboia in 1972. For the past two years, Mrs. Heagy had lived in Moose Jaw.
Predeceased by her husband in 1936 and a son in 1922, she is survived by six sons, Clarence of Moose Jaw, Erwin of Rockglen, Floyd of Vedder Crossing, B.C., Rodney of Lisieux and Clare and Vincent of Saskatoon; four daughters, Esther of Nyack, N.Y., Doris Cardinal of Bladworth, Ruby Chute of Abboisford, B.C. and Frances Reimer of Willowdale, Ont.; 41 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Nystrom and Rose Waldo; and three brothers, Patrick, Edward and Robert McCabe.
Funeral Service was in Wesley United Church at Rockglen with Rev. Randy McKenzie and Rev. Arnold Reimer officiating.
