MRS. G. E. FIDLER EXPIRES AT 54 IN THARPTOWN

Member of Old Shamokin Family Survived By One Son

Mrs. Gertrude Estelle Fidler, member of one of this city's oldest and best known families, died at 4:20 yesterday afternoon at the home of her brother-in-law, George Lewis, Tharptown, where she had resided since the death of her sister, Mrs. Lewis, five years ago.

Gertrude, daughter of the late William Lake and Mrs. Matilda Lawrence Lake, was born in this city, October 30, 1879, and resided here practically all of her life. She lived for several years at Espy, Columbia county.

For a time Mrs. Fidler was engaged as a saleslady at the C. C. Leaders Sons' Co. store and other local business places and became prominently known and was highly respected thruout the community.

Surviving are her only son, John Fidler, at present located at Elkton, Maryland, and her aged mother, Mrs. Lake, at present a guest at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Charles Duncheskie, this city.

Thruout her long illness, which became serious last November when Mrs. Fidler underwent a serious major operation, she had received constant and kindly care at the Lewis homestead.

The funeral will be held from the Lewis residence on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. E. J. Symons, pastor of the Chestnut Street Methodist Episcopal church, to officiate. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows' cemetery.
