Bernice (Goodell) Persing, 96, of Bradenton, Fla., and formally of Battle Creek died Wednesday, June 15, 1994, in Manatee Memorial Hospital, Bradenton.
She was born May 16, 1898, in Lenawee County. She moved to Battle Creek in 1939 from Sturgis and Bradenton in 1966 from Battle Creek.
She and her husband, Raymond P. Persing, longtime local Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. representative, had wintered in Florida five years before moving. The couple traveled extensively throughout the world.
They were married Sept. 14, 1921.
A homemaker, Mrs. Persing was employed at Goss Printing Press and Midstate Electric.
In Sturgis, she was active in St. John's Episcopal Church, the Sturgis Women's Club and a drama group.
In Battle Creek, she was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and service chairman of the Deanery of Western Michigan. She also served on the Executive Council of Human Resources.
In Florida, she was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and past president of its St. Margaret's Chapter and a member of the Founder's Circle of the Manatee River Garden Club.
Surviving are sons, Thomas A. Persing of Traverse City and Joseph A. Persing of Bradenton, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Burial: Christ Church Episcopal Memorial Gardens, Bradenton, Fla.
