James Roat, an old and respected citizen of Hemlock township died at his home near Buck Horn on Tuesday January 1st, aged 75 years, 2 months and 16 days.

I, James Roat of Hemlock Township in the County of Columbia and State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind memory and understanding, do make and publish this my last will and
Testament, hereby revoking and making void all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made.

As to such Estate as it hath pleased God to intrust me with, I dispose of the same as follows, viz:
Item, I give and bequeath to my son John Roat the sum of Five dollars.
Item, I direct that all the balance of my Estate, whether real personal or mixed, shall be divided into four equal shares, or parts.
Item, I give devise and bequeath unto my Daughter Clarra intermarried with Tailor Ruckle two shares, or one half of my estate, after paying said five dollars to my son John.
Item, I give devise and bequeath to my Daughter Emma Roat one part, or one fourth of the balance of my Estate after paying my said son John five dollars.
Item, I give devise and bequeath unto my Daughter Agnes Roat, one share, or one fourth of the balance of my Estate after paying my said son John five dollars as aforesaid.

And I do hereby constitute and appoint Ephraim H. Little sole executor of this, my last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof, I James Roat, the Testator have, to this, my Will, written on one sheet of paper, set my hand and seal, this Thirty first day of May A.D. one Thousand Eight hundred and eighty.James Roat Seal

Signed sealed and declared and published by the above named James Roat, as and for his last Will and Testament, in the presence of us, who have hereunto subscribed our Names at his request as Witnesses thereto, in the presence of the said Testator and

I, Ephraim H. Little, being duly sworn according to law, do depose and say that James Roat, late of Hemlock township, said county, died on Tuesday the first day of January A.D. 1884 between the hours of 3 and 4 o'clock in the afternoon of said day, to the best of my Knowledge and belief. Affirmed and subscribed before me this 4th day of January 1884.
