Donley L. Ewin, 88, of Ventura, died July 31, 2000, after a lengthy illness.
Don was born Oct. 3, 1911, in Beggs, Okla. He moved to California with his family in 1922. He was a 41-year Ventura County resident. Don was a salesman for Helms Bakery for 33 years. He also worked for Security First National Bank, where he met Betty Early, his future bride. Don and Betty were married for 63 wonderful years.
Don enjoyed camping, traveling and golf but most of all, he enjoyed his loving family. Don was a member of the Ventura Breakfast Lions Club and First United Methodist Church, where he was very active.
Don will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty; daughter and husband, Ann and Dan Cormode; son and wife, Ray and Sheila Ewin, all of Ventura; daughter-in-law, Barbara Ewin of Lafayette, Calif.; sister, Mary Neighbors of Dayton, Nev.; seven grandchildren and their spouses; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dick Ewin; sisters, Mildred Amos and Florence Ewin; and parents, Robert Donley and Jennie Ewin.
A celebration of the life of Don Ewin will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Walter Dilg officiating.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to First United Methodist Church, 1338 E. Santa Clara St., Ventura, CA 93001.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
