A Wilson Family Tree

Notes for Michael Kanouse

From Ancestry.com, "U.S. Civil War Soldier Records and Profiles 1861-1865":

Enlisted in Company C, Michigan 5th Cavalry Regiment on 07 Feb 1865. Mustered out on 02 Jun 1865. Transferred to Company F, Michigan 7th Cavalry Regiment on 02 Jun 1865. Mustered out on 15 Dec 1865 at Fort Leavenworth, KS. [Note that these dates and companies are exactly the same as for brother Moses.]

A number of family trees give his birth date as 13 Jun 1844, but the obituary below and the "U.S. Veterans Administration Master Index 1917-1940" on Ancestry.com have 12 Jun 1844. I don't know which is right, but I am going to go with June 12. Also, some family trees say he was born in Reading, Berks Co., PA, but Columbia County, as in the obituary below, seems to make more sense.

A letter from Patsy (Kanouse) Dotson to Glen & Rosie Gathright, dated 11 Aug 1995, says that Michael Kanouse is buried in the same cemetery as Jay and William Kanouse, but he is not listed in Find A Grave, so I wonder if it is true.

From the Vici Beacon, 21 Feb 1929 (obtained from the Dotson Family Tree):
