Glenn Sherman Blankenship 70, of Martinsville, went home to be with his Lord, Wednesday January 22, 2020, at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. Glenn was born August 1, 1949, to the late Guss Shockley Blankenship and Mamie (Virginia) Lawson Blankenship. Glenn was a self employed General Contractor for more than fifty years, and was the owner of Glenn S. Blankenship General Contractor and Glenn’s Gloves.

Glenn was very involved and instrumental in the missions’ work of Sonlight Christian Missions which serves the people of Haiti. Glenn was instrumental in the construction of a church in Haiti and provided numerous vehicles shipped to be used in the mission field. Glenn loved Christ’s Church in Martinsville which he had been a part of for more then twenty five years. Glenn loved the Lord, his work, his church and missions. He also enjoyed playing the guitar, piano and fishing. In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his grandparents who provided care, guidance and played a major role in his development from youth, Clarence L. and Ida Mae Wright Blankenship, brother, Daniel Wayne Blankenship and a brother-in law, Dwayne Lee Blankenship.

Surviving are his wife, Carmen Johnson Blankenship, three daughters and son-in law; Amy B. Moore, Tracey B. Stultz and Julia B. and husband Wade Shelton, two sisters and brother-in-law; S. Gayle and Larry Cardwell and Janet Blankenship, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday February 1, 2020, at Christ’s Church 1425 Spruce Street Ext., Martinsville, Virginia 24112 with Pastor Tim Bredamus officiating. The family request that all attending come casually. Inurnment will be private. There will be a covered dish meal where the family will have a time of food and fellowship following the service.

In lieu of flowers the family request the donations be made to Carmen Blankenship in care of Christ’s Church P.O. Box 3764, Martinsville, Virginia 24115.

Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home and Burial Park was entrusted with arrangements.
