Death of Thomas Horn.

Thomas Horn, a life long resident of this locality, died Saturday at his home in Mahoning valley, at the age of 83 years. Mr. Horn was born in Lehighton. He was a son of 'Squire John Horn, an original pioneer farmer in Mahoning. The deceased was a farmer and owned the farm on which he died on the lower road through Mahoning until several years ago when he sold it to D. Jacob Kistler, one of the landlords of the Exchange Hotel. He leaves a widow by second marriage, eight sons and two daughters. The sons are Thomas J., Charles T., Joseph A., Abraham
P., Edward, George, Frank G., and John Jr., and the daughters are Mrs. John Gomery, of Lehighton, and Mrs. A. C. Peters, of Allentown. Two of the sons, C. T., of town and J. A., of Mauch Chunk, are doctors; one A. P., of Hellertown, is a minister; two, Edward of Philadelphia,
and George, of Chicago, are druggists; Thomas J., is a farmer, Frank G., of Fostoria, Ohio, is an undertaker and John, of Sioux City, Iowa, is a carpenter. Besides the above children the deceased is survived by one brother, John Horn, of Easton, who is rapidly nearing 85 and by one
sister, Mrs. Samuel Graver, of town. The funeral was held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon with services in Zion's Reformed Church by the pastor, Rev. D. A. Winter. Interment was made in Gnaden Hutten cemetery. The pall bearers were Owen Smith, Elmer Mantz, D. Jacob Kistler, W. F. Brodhead, William Sandel and Joseph Dreisbach.


"Descendants of John Conrad (Johannes) HORN-4" (http://horngenealogy.com/pdf/0600.pdf, p. 7) says that he was a carpenter and boat builder in addition to being a farmer.
