A Wilson Family Tree
Notes for Willie Frances Rutledge
Chariton Courier, 12 Jan 1900, p. 1 (obtained from https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/8570293/person/-928937418/facts):
Mrs. Elvina Jackson was tried by a jury in Justice S. W. Smith's court at Westville last Saturday for disturbing the peace of Miss Willie Rutledge, a school marm, and was fined $1 and costs. The defendant's fine and costs amounted to something over $27, which she made arrangements to pay. The trouble arose over Miss Rutledge's attempt to make a daughter of Mrs. Jackson quit chewing gum in school. When informed of the "indignity" offered her daughter, Mrs. Jackson donned her war paint and went to the school-house with the avowed purpose of giving the teacher a thrashing. The irate mother's arrest followed with the result given above.
