Notes for J. D. Wright

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the First Christian church for J. D. WRIGHT, who died early Thursday morning, July 17, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Wednesday night on highway 17 east of Perryton.
WRIGHT was injured when his automobile left the highway and crashed into a power pole along the highway. The accident occurred at approximately 9 p.m. Wednesday and he died at 1:30 a.m. Thursday without regaining consciousness.
Rev. J. W. McKinney, minister of the local church, conducted the final rites. Active pallbearers were Frank GIPSON, Byrl HARDY, Giltner LaMASTER, W. J. MILLER, W. T. BROWNLEE and J. E. DRAGOUN. Honorary pallbearers were Carl ELLIS, Sam HERGERT, Paul HARDY, W. M. GOOD, Norman SWINK, Ott CRAWFORD, J. H. CALLIHAM and D. B. PEARSON.
J. D. WRIGHT was born at Wylie, Texas, March 28, 1918, to Mr. and Mrs. John Dee WRIGHT. The family soon moved to Krum, Texas, and later to Denton, Texas. In 1938, the family moved to Dallas, where the parents still reside.
He and Miss Coralee TANDY of Perryton were married at Medill, Oklahoma, on January 23, 1938, and established their home in Dallas where J. D. worked for the Dr. Pepper company and the Dallas Railway Co.
To this union were born three children, Nancy, Tim and Roger D. The family moved to Grand Prairie, Texas, in 1943, where J. D. was assistant superintendent in a department of the North American Aircraft plant. He volunteered for service in the Navy in the spring of 1944 and served about one year when he was given a medical discharge.
Since 1945, the family has resided in Perryton community, engaging in farming until a few months ago when J. D. was employed by the Ochiltree Implement Co., when the family moved to 610 S. Colgate.
J. D. was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, and the First Christian church, of which he and his whole family became members during the current year.
He is survived by his wife, Coralee; a daughter, Nancy Jane, two sons, Tim Tandy and Roger D.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John D. WRIGHT of Dallas; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Jane WRIGHT of Denton; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. J. L. MYERS of Dallas; and two sisters, Mrs. L. C. McCOY of Dallas and Mrs. Harry MILLER of Krum, Texas.
Interment was in the Ochiltree cemetery.

TANDY, Karen ad Janice of Mangum, Oklahoma, Finis ROSENBAUM of Duke, Oklahoma, Mr. and Mrs. Lail BARTON of Canadian, Mr. and Mrs. Gilman FLOWERS of Canadian, Mr. and Mrs. Frank ALLEN of Spearman.
