Notes for Helen Frances Morgan

From Find A Grave (listing for Helen Frances Morgan Tandy):

Obituary published in the Fort Worth Star Telegram:

Helen was born Oct. 4, 1922, to John and Odell Morgan in Wolfe City. Later, her family moved to Bonham and to nearby Leonard, where she attended high school. Her parents were farmers, and she had memories as a 6-year-old picking cotton in the hot East Texas fields. As a young adult, she moved to Grand Prairie to attend business school. She met her husband, Lewis Henry Tandy Jr., when they worked at Frank Kent Cadillac in 1940. They married in 1941 and moved to Santa Fe, N.M., where Lewis served in the Army as a surveyor at nearby Los Alamos Laboratory and Helen worked in the office of a local medical clinic. After the war, they returned to east Fort Worth, where they lived the remainder of their lives. Lewis died in 2006.
She worked in portrait photography with Wally of Hollywood, and later was a real estate professional, working for many years with Art and Francis Cooper of Century 21 Realtors. She was involved in numerous activities focused around her children, including Cub Scouts and the PTA. Helen and Lewis taught Sunday school for many years at Meadowbrook United Methodist Church, and they were both members of the Upper Room Class. One of her strong memories was from the 1950s, when she walked with other Americans in the March of Dimes, carrying donation cans to raise money to find a cure for polio.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Henry Tandy Jr.; parents, John and Odell Morgan; sister, Cloma Dean Sims; brother-in-law, Robert Sims; nephew, Kirk Sims; and faithful companion, wiener dog, Jo.

She was survived by two sons and two grandchildren.
