Notes for Emma Alice Roat
She is listed as Mary A. Rhote in the 1870 census, so I wonder if her birth name was really Mary.
Husband's name really looks like Perring on the marriage record, and could be read as Perring on her death certificate as well, but then I found on Find A Grave that it is really Persing -- she married a cousin.
The name on her death certificate (obtained from Ancestry.com, Michigan Death Records 1867-1950) is Emma Alice Persing (Ancestry has it transcribed as Perring). Cause of death is listed as cerebral hemorrhage. Place of death is listed as Reading, Hillsdale Co., MI (very hard to read). Her mother's name is listed as Susannah Kanouse (?).
