Funeral services for Mrs. Jean Watson Gathright, 66, owner of the Gathright house, who died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the J.D. Pelphrey funeral home. Mrs. Gathright, one of Austin's well known business women, was the widow of the late Thomas S. Gathrlght, whose father, also Thomas S. Gathright, was the first president of Texas A.& M. college. When her husband died 30 year ago, Mrs. Gathright assumed the burden of rearing and educating a large family of children. For two years she was connected with the state comptroller's department.She later was employed for 11 years at the state land office and retired from the state office in 1916. In that year, Mrs. Gathright opened her boarding house on East Tenth street and to this house came many state and federal official and juries to take their meals there. Mrs. Gathrlght also owned considerable property here. She was a member of the Praetorlans, Rebekahs, Woodmen Circle, Knights and Ladies of Security and the First Southern Presbyterian church. Officers and members of Cedar Grove No. 3, Woodmen Circle, Saturday were asked to attend the funeral in an announcement issued by Laura E. Krebs, guardian and Helena Schletter, secretary. Mrs. Gathright is survived by five sons, Thomas S. Gathright of Fort Worth; Harper A. Gathright, Erwin A. Gathrlght, Denton L. Gathright and Forrest D. Gathright, all of Austin, one daughter, Mrs. H.F. Williams of Honolulu; three brothers, Henry Davis of Paradise, Texas, Dock Davis and E.J. Davis, Austin merchants, and a sister, Mrs. C.W.
