Notes for Sallie Payne Davis
From the Flanakin/Brents Family Tree, Sally was adopted by Humphrey Norris Cowden Davis and Mattie Davis; her birth name may have been Parker. Her adoptive father was a relative of the Brents' (I assume through James Wilson Brents' grandmother, Rhoda Davis, whose first husband was William Cowden), and she met her future husband when her adoptive family was staying with the Brents one time.
Find A Grave (listing for Sallie Payne Davis Brents) gives her birth date as 8 Mar 1888, which is the same date given me by Susie Alverson, but her gravestone (pictured on Find A Grave) shows it as 9 Mar 1889.
