(From Depue, September 14, 1918)

Harvey Nicholas Larens was born on a farm near Florid, Putnam County, Illinois, May 20, 1878 where he lived until 26 years of age. At this time he came to Depue where as a principle of the high school for 5 years, he endeared himself to instructors and schollars alike. He then lived in Chicago for nearly 3 years studying in the law school of the Illinois College of Law. It was while living in Chicago that he was united in marriage to Miss Alma Smith on June 1, 1910. After his Chicago residence he accepted a position at the daughting room of the Mineral Point Zinc Company of this city. ..................his fruitful life was terminated on Wednesday September 11, 1918 at 6:00 AM. He leaves to cherish his memory besides his wife Alma, his children, Della Ruth, Anna Katherine and Harvey Martin, age respectively 7, 5, and 3 years and his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schuck.

Havey N. Larens was born on a farm south of Florid, May 20, 1878. Move to Florid with his folks when a small boy. Was a faithful and zealous member of the Florid church and Sunday school and especially in the young people's meetings. After receiving all the education his home school could give, he attended the Hennepin High School from which he graduated. He has taught several terms in Putnam County afterwhich he was engaged as a priciple in the Depue High School. He leaves besides his relatives, many friends who mourn his loss.
