Norma Jean Chattaway Wall
June 21, 1925 - August 11, 2021
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother of the Wall family passed away peacefully at her home of 57 years in Bel Air CA on August 11th, 2021.
Born to Walter Chattaway and Katherine Kennedy Chattaway in Monongahela PA. Norma attended and graduated from Monongahela High School. She attended her freshman and sophomore years at Pennsylvania College for Women and later graduated from Penn State University, where she met her husband of 68 years, Virgil Wilson Wall.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature Norma Jean worked as a Librarian and Teacher before adopting her first of four children, David Wilson Wall in 1957. She devoted the rest of her life to generously raising her family.
Norma Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Virgil Wilson Wall, and by her beloved daughter of 59 years, Virginia Ann Wall. Norma Jean is survived by three children, David (wife Vivian), Christopher (wife Ester) and Catherine. Her seven grandchildren, Freddie, Jessica, Christopher, Justin, Samantha, Jordan, and step granddaughter Mandy. As well as her great grandchild Josephine, her niece Cathy Gaye Bailey, and her nephew Jay Chattaway.
Norma Jean will always be remembered for her amazing memory, beautiful handwriting, skilled and prolific needle crafting, her melodic speaking voice, and her devout Christian faith.
No one could float on water better than Norma Jean; may she continue to float above us all as the beloved matriach of the Wall family.
