Note that Gervas William Davis and Mary Gertrude Davis were first cousins, but not by blood because she is a step-daughter to James Monroe Davis.

G. William Davis, 96, of rural Napton, died Friday, May 26, 2006, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Napton. Rev. Doug Franklin will officiate. Pallbearers will be Rob Davis, Brian Schmidt, Roger Feagan, Tad Davis, Michael Martin, Darrell Ahrens, Joe Davis Jr. and Heath Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Stouffer, Mavin L. Davis, Bill Werneke, Carter Shannon, Charles O'Neal, Marion Arni, J.L. Pulliam, Marvin Lee Hunt and Monte Holder. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Burial will be in Smith Chapel Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Smith Chapel United Methodist Church or Smith Chapel Cemetery.
Born Nov. 6, 1909, in rural Napton, he was the son of the late Joseph B. Davis and Ollie May Adams Davis. On April 16, 1940, in Mountain Home, Ark., he married Gertrude Davis, who survives of the home. He had lived on the Davis family farm in rural Napton his entire life, where he was a dairy farmer and an active member in the community. He was a graduate of Napton High School and had served on the Napton school board for many years. He was a lifetime member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church, where he was very active and had held various positions in the church.
Additional survivors include his children: G. William "Bill" Davis Jr. and wife Patricia of Grand Rapids, Minn., M. Carolyn Jiles of Richmond, Ind., and Charles E. Davis and wife Joyce of rural Napton; one sister, Mary Catherine Garnett of Mexico; five grandchildren, Laura Zimmermann, David William Davis and wife Tracy, Andy Davis and wife Wendy, Kristan Jiles and Tammy Lambrecht; five great-grandchildren, Logan Davis, Cooper Davis, Dustin Davis, Olivia Lambrecht and Wyatt Lambrecht; two step-great-grandchildren, Kris Lambrecht and Shane Lambrecht; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, J. Samuel Davis, Joseph B. Davis and Smith Davis, two sisters, Annis Davis and Mattie Davis Feagan, and one brother in infancy.
