Find A Grave (listing for Richard S. Ridenour) shows a previous wife for him: Amanda Maria Littrell (1846 - 1921). Ancestry.com has a marriage record for them on 6 Sep 1874 in Johnson County, Missouri. She died on 11 Mar 1921 in San Juan Co., NM.
The name on his death certificate (obtained from the Albuquerque and Bernalillo County Public Library Genealogy Center) is Richard S. Rhidenour. Cause of death was chronic myocarditis and myocardial degeneration. The place of death is just given as San Juan Co., NM. It says that he had lived in the county for 52 years. His occupation is given as stockman and gen. merc. and it says that he had worked in that occupation his whole life.
According to "A Connecticut Arnold Memorial", he was with Buffalo Bill for a time, probably in his show, and later was a character actor in movies. This is hard to square with the occupation information on his death certificate.
