Notes for Sarah Jane Snyder
George Snyder and "A Connecticut Arnold Memorial" say she was born in 1856. The 1900 census says she was born in March 1856, and the birth data for the other family members in that listing were accurate. However, the biography of John Wesley Arnold says that she was born in 1855 and Find A Grave (listing for Sarah Jane Ridenour) has a picture of her gravestone showing 1855 - 1933. Her death certificate gives her birth date as 3 Mar 1855, but that is too soon after brother Henry's birth in August 1854. It is iffy, but I am going to use 3 Mar 1856.
The name on her death certificate (obtained from the Albuquerque and Bernalillo County Public Library Genealogy Center) is Sarah Jane Ridenour. Cause of death was carcinoma of pancreas. The place of death is listed as Aztec [unreadable], San Juan Co., NM. Her father is listed as ( ) Snyder, mother's name unknown. It also says that she had lived in the county for seven years, which is from about the time of her marriage with Richard Ridenour.
Interestingly, on the death certificate of her husband Richard Ridenour, he is listed as a widower with wife's name of Jennie. She is listed as Jane in the 1880 census and in the Leona Snyder interview (http://www.snydersinfo.com/LeonaSnyder.pdf).
