A Wilson Family Tree

Notes for John Adam Snyder

He went by Adam. According to George Snyder, he died in Libby Prison (Confederate prison) during the Civil War, but "History of Branch County, Michigan" (1879, p. 82, obtained from Ancestry.com) shows his death place as Andersonville, GA (a different Confederate prison).

"A Connecticut Arnold Memorial", which says that the information came from Leona Snyder in 1967, says that John Adam died of dysentery while a prisoner at Andersonville. It also says that he was in the 5th Michigan Cavalry. "History of Branch County" says he died on 27 Sep 1864, but "A Connecticut Arnold Memorial" (information from Leona Snyder) says 28 Sep 1864. Don't know for sure which is right.
