Notes for Mary Amelia Haight
Information from Robert Davis said that Burris Kincaid Davis married Miss May in Hamilton, White Pine Co., NV. However, information from Stephen Landuyt and from a WorldConnect tree at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:2182804&id=I111709552 is that Burris Kincaid Davis married Mary Amelia Haight. I think "Miss May" should have been "Miss Mary".
Stephen Landuyt says she was born about 1846. Some sources say she was born in October 1847, but the censuses from her childhood (8 years old in the 1855 New York state census, 14 years old in the 1860 U.S. census) are more consistent with an earlier birth than that. Note that birth in October 1847 would mean she was only 15 when she married B.K. Davis.
According to Stephen Landuyt, she remarried in 1883 to a miner named Stephen E. Starrett. They lived in Hamilton, NV, until 1888, when they moved to San Francisco.
