A Wilson Family Tree

Notes for Henry Faus Jr.

From the Evangelical Messenger, a weekly publication of the Evangelical Association, 27 Feb 1883, p. 71, obtained from the Allen County Public Library (there is an index of Evangelical Messenger obituaries at http://www.genealogycenter.info/search_evanmessenger.php):

FAUS.--Bro. Henry Faus died of dropsy, in Ashland, O., Feb. 6, 1883, aged 73 y., 3m. and 26 d. Father F. was a member of the Church for 30 years and was faithful to the end. He frequently said, "All is well." "I am ready to go at any time." A companion, with whom he lived for 52 years, 4 sons and 2 daughters mourn his departure. Funeral by the writer, assisted by Rev. Wm. Whittington. A. VANDERSALL.

Some sources say he was born in Columbia Co., PA, but Columbia County wasn't formed until 1813. Before that it was part of Northumberland County, so I am putting Northumberland County for his birth place.

From "Faus Genealogical Data Summarized: 1780 - 1961" by Sister Mary Euphrasia Faus (1961) [some typos have been corrected]:

We have been informed that Henry Faus was a cobbler like his father Henry Faus I.--Once more we find a family trait going down the line, as we find even in the 5th generation there is also another Shoemaker and repairman in Spearman, Texas, in the person of a great-great grandson, namely Rueben Roland Paul Faus, who has made this his life-trade. Of course in the descendants of the Henry Faus II family, we find R.R. men, Ministers, professional men, and all kind of mechanics, etc. All are travelling along with the spirit of the times. But they never have lost the sturdy Faus get-up-and-go spirit of progress.

"Faus Genealogical Data" did not have children Elizabeth and George.
