Notes for Melvin C. Curtis
In the 1885 Kansas census, there is a son listed as W. C. In the 1900 census, there is a son listed as Melvin. From the ages, they seem to be the same person. Don't know if the "W" was a mistake, or Melvin was a nickname. He is presumably the "eldest son of this latter union" who died on Jan. 27, 1902 (from Benjamin Marion Curtis's obituary). The Jerry and Trudy Curtis web site lists him as Melvin C.
