Notes for Margaret Campbell

"Annals of Augusta County, Virginia, from 1726 to 1871", by Joseph A. Waddell, Second Edition, C. Russell Caldwell, Staunton, VA, 1902, p. 149 (obtained from http://www.archive.org/details/annalsofaugustac00wadd):

1. Margaret married the David Campbell who erected a block-house in Tennessee, widely known as "Campbell's Station." She was conspicuous for many excellent traits of character. Her death occurred in 1799, at the age of fifty-one.

According to Margaret Campbell Pilcher, this Margaret Campbell married David Campbell in 1774, and they had eight children. They moved from Washington Co., VA, to the location of Campbell's Station (twelve miles from Knoxville, TN) in 1786. Campbell's Station was later renamed and the name was given to a different place, near Nashville, TN. One of their grandchildren was Gov. William Bowen Campbell of Tennessee (and he was the father of Margaret Campbell Pilcher).
