Notes for John Boyle

http://www.boyleky.com:
The name for Boyle County [Kentucky] was selected in 1842 to honor Judge John Boyle, an able and prominent justice in the first quarter of the nineteenth century. A state legislator for three terms, Boyle turned down opportunities to serve as a territorial governor and later as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice. He chose to serve the state, first as Chief Justice for nearly seventeen years and then as a District Judge for Kentucky. Boyle died in 1835.

In Boyle Genealogy, he is referred to as Chief Justice John Boyle. There is a great deal about him in that volume.
