A Wilson Family Tree
Notes for Louise M. Sandidge
In the probate case file for her grandmother, Marie L. Isbell, from Saline Co., MO, she is listed as Louise Sandidge a/k/a/ Louise Sandidge Champlin. In one place, there is her signature as M. L. Champlin, which makes me wonder if her name was originally Maria Louisa like her grandmother. Middle initial of M is from her daughter Celeste's Social Security application (could still be that her name was really Maria Louisa Sandidge, though). The Ingle Family Tree on Ancestry.com has a copy of a bible page at http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/113287/person/-2070026905/media, which shows her as Louisa Sandidge.
Ingle Family Tree gives her birth date as 15 Apr 1883, though I can't read the birth date on the bible page. However, her death certificate shows her birth date as 19 May 1883, and the informant was her sister Sara, who should have known.
There is a tree on Ancestry World Tree at http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=poppopo&id=I7751, which lists a marriage between Charles H. Champlin and Louise Sandige in Denver on 16 May 1905. This marriage is confirmed by the Colorado Genealogical Society's "Colorado Marriages, 1858-1939" CD-ROM, which lists a marriage between Charles Champlin and Louise Sandidge (marriage license dated 15 May 1905). These names are uncommon enough that this surely is the right couple (further confirmation from the Social Security application for Celeste Champlin Bollers). The AWT web page also shows Charles H. Champlin as being born in Steuben Co., NY, and there is a listing in the 1910 census for Charles H. and Louise S. Champlin in Addison, Steuben Co., NY. One thing that doesn't fit is that the parents of the Louise S. Champlin in the 1910 census were both said to be born in Kansas. On the other hand, a daughter named Celeste is listed, which is very suggestive since Louise Sandidge had a sister named Celeste.
The name on her death certificate is Louise S. Champlin. (There is a note that says something about Louise Sandidge Champlin, so the "S" might just be for her maiden name of Sandidge.) Cause of death given as pulmonary tuberculosis. Place of death given as Marshall Twp., Saline Co., MO.
