I have a knife that at one time was a sword, which great uncle Cedric had famously liberated from a German. This knife was passed to my dad and uncle while they were young, and was converted to a knife by necessity, since they... being adolescents, neglected the sword until it was mangled sufficiently that the conversion to a knife was imperative lol. Dad confided in me that his uncle Cedric's grand "tale"or "yarn" as it were regarding its seizure from a dead German's hands was likely just that... a whimsical tale. We'll never know.
