Obtained from the Hemry Family Tree (https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/160230320/person/262096170683/facts):

LYDIA ANN KANOUSE

Lydia Ann Kanouse, daughter of Abraham and Elizabeth Kanouse, was born in Columbia county, Pa., Feb. 14, 1831. At the age of 24 she came to Michigan with her parents, and located in Branch county, Bethel township. The following year she returned to Pennsylvania and was united in marriage to Lambert P. Blessing [sic], and resided there until the year 1869 when with her family she moved to Steuben county, village of Nevada. From there she moved to Three Rivers, Mich., and later back to Indiana, locating in Jamestown, where she resided until the death of her companion, who departed from this earth to his home beyond, Sept. 11, 1902.

To this union were bore eight children, seven sons and one daughter. The daughter and one son preceeded her to the better world in infancy, six sons an [sic] remaining: John, of Kendallville; William, of Reading; Abraham, of Wolf Lake, Mich.; Harvey, of Sturgis, Mich.; Charles, of Fort Wayne; and Pardoe, of Sturgis. She also leaves to mourn 14 grand sons, four grand daughters, six great grand children, five brothers and one sister.

In 1908 she moved to Sturgis, where she made her home with her son Pardoe until her death, June 4, 1917, aged 86 years three months and 20 days.

At the age of 16 years she accepted Jesus Christ as her spiritual adviser, and united with the Lutheran church in full fellowship of the Christ who died for us all. She was always active in church work and also mission work.

When she moved to Jamestown, there was no church home of her choice. She together with her husband, organized a church in the old school house, under care of the Congregational church. A few years later, owing to the school house becoming too small, a church was built. She organized the Ladies' Aid society, of which she was the president for several years and through which the greater portion of the church debt was paid.

After going to Sturgis she united with the Presbyterian church, of which she was a member at the time of her death.

She was one of God's faithful and loving children, ever watching and looking for the time when Christ would come again and take his bride up into Heaven to be with Him forever.

The name on her death certificate (obtained from Ancestry.com, Michigan Death Records 1867-1950) is Lydia Ann Persing. Cause of death is listed as apoplexy (contributory: cerebral hemorrhage, I think). Place of death is listed as 212 N. Orange St., Sturgis, St. Joseph Co., MI. Parents are listed as Abraham Kanouse and Elizabeth Snyder.

[Regarding mother's name of Elizabeth Snyder -- my guess is that the informant (H. J. Persing) knew his grandmother was Elizabeth Kanouse, and that she was the daughter of Elizabeth Snyder, maybe having seen their graves in the Card Cemetery. He did not know that she was Elizabeth's daughter from her earlier marriage to Henry Faus.]
