Frank J. Chrane, 88, of Liberty, MO, died Tuesday, October 28, 2003, at Ashton Court Care Center, Liberty. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2003, at Church-ArcherPasley Chapel; burial in Fairview Cemetery, Liberty. Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary, 407 N. LaFrenz Rd., Liberty, MO 64068. Mr. Chrane was born July 12, 1915, in Liberty, MO, the son of Frank and Allie Wall Chrane. He was reared in Liberty and graduated from William Jewell College in 1937 with a degree in history. While in college, he excelled in track events and in 2000 earned recognition in the college Athletic Hall of Fame. Mr. Chrane was a fire protection engineer for Royal Globe Ins. Co. for 27 years, retiring in 1975. After retirement, he served as a consultant for fire protection for Conrad O'Reilly Ins. Co., retiring again in 1983. He enjoyed several hobbies, including a love for photography, hunting, raising hunting dogs, and building a HO scale model railroad system. He was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church. Mr. Chrane was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother, as well as his wife, Medora, who died in 1992. He is survived by two sons, Frank Chrane and his wife, Kay, and Bill Chrane and his wife, Brenda, all of Liberty; a daughter, Jeanette Chrane, Seattle, WA; three stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
