Notes for Thomas Wesley Brents
Some sources give his birth date as 17 Sep 1773. One source says he was born in Kentucky (note that there are likewise sources who place some of his siblings' births in Kentucky). Also, one source gives his middle name as Elias.

He was in Maury Co., TN in Jun 1809 as a Road Commissioner.
"He resided in KY until 1800, then went to Marshall Co., TN. He was a man of remarkable intellectual powers, superior to many of his associates in that particular. He and wife were not professed Christians, but they inclined to the Methodist Episcopal faith. He was an old-line Democrat and died at the age of sixty-two." (Goodspeed)
He is listed in the War of 1812 and was with Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans. (Goodspeed History of Central, AR. pg 245)
Information in TN Vol IV Marshall Co., TN Bible Records, Cemetery Records, Will, Land Grants, and Court Records from Genealogical Records, TN Society NSDAR 1978-1979 lists the children of Thomas BRENTS.
There is room in this family line for another family group considering the dates of births of children do not begin until 1810-1815.
Thomas was appointed Road Overseer in Lincoln Co., TN in 1815.
Marshall Co., TN was formed out of Lincoln Co., TN in 1836.
A Thomas Brents head of household appears in 1840 Marshall County census, 000110001-01000001. I suppose the 60-70 year old male could be someone else, but.... Also I do not have a copy, but there was a Thomas Brents will recorded, 1842, as-a-72 (MS).
