Notes for Valentine Garvin (V.G.) Brent
Brents Genealogy lists him as V. G. Brents, "Brents, The Joshua Tree" lists him as V. G. Brent. 1850 census shows Valentine G. Brents. Waters.ftw Family Tree site lists him as Valentine Garvin Brents. Valentine Garvin was the name of his maternal grandfather. Mary E. Brent Roberts' memoir in the Filson Club History Quarterly indicates that, at least as a boy, he went by his initials, V. G. (she spells it out as Vegie).
