Notes for Nancy Sandidge

Bill Vincent's ahnentafel doesn't list Nancy (though he notes that others list her, as well as Augustine, Austin, and Pullom). The York manuscript also doesn't list Nancy; he doesn't mention her at all, but does mention Augustine, Austin, and Pullom as possible sons. Sorrells Genealogy spells the last name Sandridge.

From the Martin Sandidge manuscript:
There is the possibility of another child, Nancy, born about 1762, in Albemarle County. On 10 December 1780, she married John Thurman and later resided in Sevier County, Tennessee, where she died in 1827. She is not named in William II's will, but mentioned in Kentucky estate lawsuits.

From Sorrells Genealogy:

At her wedding to John, an Isabel BEAVERS attended to her, but no kinship was mentioned.

As a widow, she applied for a pension. Pension file submitted under W. 28009. She was allowed pension based on John's Revolutionary War service on her application executed 25 Nov 1843, while a resident of Blount Co., TN. She was still living there in 1854. In 1851 she gave a post office address as Greeneville, TN.

In 1851 she lived in Greeneville, TN

1854 she was a resident of Blount Co., TN, where she died.

She and John raised a large family but only the following were mentioned in her Widow's Pension application: Sarah, Lucy and Martha.

She is buried in the Stafford Cemetery, Sevier Co., TN. Drive toward Newport from Sevierville on US 411 to the bridge over the Little Pigeon River. From the bridge drive 1.4 miles and turn right onto a dirt road. The cemetery is 0.1 miles ahead. Stafford Cemetery is on the right. No dates are on the stone.

Her father is very possibly William SANDRIDGE, Jr. who married Elizabeth GRAVES. He was the son of William, SR. and Ann PULLIAM. William, Sr. was the son of John SANDRIDGE who was christened in New Kent Parish, VA in 1697. This information is from Jean McGee e-mail (1999).
