Notes for Stephen Sandidge
Last name spelled Sandridge in the Martin Sandidge manuscript. Martin Sandidge also says that "About 1815/1818, he, some of his sons, and other Carr and Faris family relatives moved from Albemarle County, Virginia to the area of Winchester, Franklin County, Tennessee where Stephen bought, then sold, and later repurchased the same 40 acres of farm land for less than $70 each time. Unlike some of his siblings, Stephen could not read or write -- and the Franklin County land deeds are signed with his mark (an 'X')."
