Notes for Elizabeth Graves
My Southern Family has a couple of vesrions of this, but it says that Elizabeth moved to Green Co., KY, with her son, John, and his wife in 1810, when she was 90 years old.
Her gravestone says Elizabeth Sandidge, born Feb. 14, 1720, died Jan 6, 1826 (from York manuscript).
Elizabeth Sandidge's will, from the York manuscript:
In the name of God, Amen, I Elizabeth Sandidge, of Green County, Kentucky, being extremely old and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory, and considering the uncertainty of this mortal life, but being of sound and perfect mind before the Almighty God for the same do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner & form following (that is to say) I request that my body shall be buried in a decent, Christianlike manner and all just debts that I may owe to be paid and it will be uncertain what amount ay remain or whether anything and as my son John Sandidge having purchased the Intrust of all the legatees to his father William Sandidge estate real and personal as my dependence for all support & care taking of my person and property has ever been in my son John Sandidge I do hereby request that he will guard my intrust during my life (and if he should depart this life before me I request he will nominate some person to succeed him) and for his fillial duty and piety toward me I give and bequeath to my beloved son, John Sandidge all and every kind of goods and chattels that I may die possessed of and as all subluary things are perishable if there should not be a my dec'd a sufficiency to inter me decently I request as a mother that he will supply the deficit and I do hereby appoint John Sandidge my sole Executor of this my last will and testament. And I do hereby revoke and disanual all former will by me made in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the 11th day of February in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Two.
Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named Elizabeth Sandidge to be her last will and testament in the presence of us who have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the testator.
