Merton worked in Singapore for many years. He never married. He died from Scorois of the Liver.
Merton was quite young when his mother remarried in 1946, so he took his Step-Father's last name although it was never legally changed.

Knauss Family Genealogy lists his name as Merton Leon Kanouse-Bouydston. WFT 10 #1142 shows Merton Leon Kanouse (Bouydstan). The Hubbard-Converse Family Tree lists him as Merton Leon Kanouse Bouydston.
