Notes for Linda Lee Shadrick
According to Kelly Raines, she was a nurse and a New Age spiritual leader. She was the leader of a cult called the Samaritan Foundation and was suspected of murdering her husband, Allen Ross. Then, in the 1990s, Linda Greene and her New Age cult called the Samaritan Foundation moved in. The Samaritans said they were out to rid the world of evil. By all accounts they, and especially Greene, did everything but that.
She was a bizarre and controlling woman. She believed bar codes were evil and that members needed to “bless” their groceries with crystals and cards with special symbols written on them. She also believed that celebrities and politicians were vampires that her followers should project their “negative energy” into. Barring that, they could put the negative energy into soy milk and dump it down the sink.
Greene’s husband, Allen Ross, mysteriously stopped talking to his friends and family not long after moving to Oklahoma to live in the house. Other members of the cult cut ties with their loved ones as well.
It wasn’t long before the police were alerted to the strange happenings at the old prison. Because of the deplorable conditions inside the decaying building, social services intervened, declaring the property uninhabitable for the children that lived there with their member parents. Allen Ross’ friend Christian Bauer would investigate his disappearance and the cult in his documentary Missing Allen.
The cult moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Allen Ross completely disappeared. Many suspected Linda Greene had killed him because he expressed doubts about her beliefs. Ross’ body was eventually recovered in the basement of the Cheyenne house, but Linda had already been long dead from natural causes.
