Notes for Martha (Patsey) Stockton
The Parks manuscript says that Martha died a year or two after giving birth to their son. Bob Reeves and WFT 22 # 1690 both said she died about 1883 or 1884, and some other family trees say she died in or before 1834. There is good information in the Bailey Family Tree (https://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=fredexbailey&id=I787), which has a note about a deed in Cumberland County, KY, Deed Book J, p. 455, dated 12 May 1834, which mentions Stockton P. Donley, son of James D. Donley and Patsey Donley, dec., formerly Patsey Stockton, heir of John Stockton, dec., late of Pittsylvania County, VA. I think it likely that Martha died in the early 1820s after Stockton was born, but certainly no later than 1834.
