[JLG]- Clyde met his first wife, Mamie, when they both still lived in Arkansas. He enlisted in the Army, Served in WWI, and at some point settled out here (Calif) and married, Mamie passed away in 1947, and Clyde eventually married Bessie. Carried on extensive correspondence with PD GATHRIGHT of Arkansas from 1955-69.

GATHRIGHT passed an examination with flying colors and became chief Jailer at Orange County Jail. Looking over the record of the past 15 years in OCJ, Capt. GATHRIGHT says "I have no Complaints." .... Suffering from diabetes, Capt. GATHRIGHT plans to retire to his old home town of Long Beach in the next few months. He hopes to get into the real estate business. ... "I've only shot one man in my career and that was a warehouse burglar over in Long Beach," He said. "I hit him in the leg, probably by accident," GATHRIGHT laughed.
