Notes for Robert Milton Gathright
WFT Volume 5, Tree 1346:
Elder Robert Milton Gathright: Son of Miles Gathright. Moved to Summerfield, La. around 1882, from Union Co., Ark., and lived there until 1896 when he moved to Claiborne Parish, outside Homer, La. He Stayed in this area until he died. A farmer and preacher, was baptized into the Primitive Baptist Church in 1881, at Goodhope Church in Union Parish, La. Was ordained an elder in 1887. Did not serve in the military. Robert had a keen sense of humor, loved telling jokes and yarns.
Robert and Eliza Jane married in 1886, at Union Co., Ark. After Eliza Jane died on Nov. 5, 1912, he married Mattie McBride in 1914 in Homer, La. Mattie died in Jonesboro, La. in 1930. Robert is buried at Lebanon Church Cemetery in Homer, La.
