A Wilson Family Tree
Notes for William Sam Garthright
BOTH WERE COUSINS WHEN THEY MARRIED.
-- WFT Volume 5, Tree 1346 (referring to William and Jane Ann Gathright)
Spelling of Garthright taken from Carolyn Gathright Web page. Also Sandra Jackson Lewis. Middle name is from Sandra Jackson Lewis.
WFT 5 #1346, Carolyn Gathright, and Craig Gathright all show William married to Jane Ann/Anna Gathright (daughter of William Gathright and Ann Morton). However, Marion Bethel says that the Jane Ann who died in 1813 and is buried at St. John's Church was married to Obediah Gathright (son of Miles H.). I'm going to assume that we are talking about two different Jane Ann/Anna Gathrights. This is very confusing...
The Lewis Family Tree has William Dandridge Garthright marrying Judith Finch, but Carolyn Gathright has William Sam Garthright. The Lewis Family Tree has his death in 1801 (5 Jan), but Carolyn Gathright has 1795.
From Carolyn Gathright:

[QKRGEN]- 1 Mar 1766, William Garthright, deputy sheriff, collected fines of Charles WOODSON.
[CAG]- I put this here as it seemed to fit as he was in Henrico at the time.
it also could have been William GATHRIGHT son of William and Anna (Morton) GATHRIGHT gson Ephraim and Jane Anna. but I lean toward the Elder as the times suggest wisdom with age.
[HAW]- p 12 has m2 to Judith FINCH [CAG]- I dont agree.. cant prove a will twice as he suggests in his notes
