Craig Gathright lists him as John Newton Gathright. Everybody else has John W. Gathright.


WFT Volume 5, Tree 1346:
John died of pneumonia while serving in the Civil War, date unknown.

John was Overseer of the Finley Plantation in Hillsboro, Arkansas. While serving with the Confederates States Army during the Civil War he contracted pneumonia. His wife brought him home by wagon for convalescence and he died.

[JLG-CL]- John was overseer for the Fenley Plantation at Hillsboro, Arkansas. He served in the Civil War but contracted Pneumonia and was returned home where he died from this sickness. [EVANS]- he died of Pneumonia, in the Civil War. [GREEN]- Overseer of the Finley Plantation at Hillsboro, AR. He served in the Civil War, Contracted Pneumonia, his wife went by wagon to get him and brought him home where he died.
