Notes for Mildred Oliver (Mickey) Adams
I have heard that George and Mickey had no children together but Mickey had three of her own, two girls and a boy. However, there is a listing in the Texas Birth Record Index (http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txhousto/vital/Births.all.Texas.1926.1949/1936/G-M.txt) for Vera Colleen Gathright, born 9 Jun 1936 in Potter Co., TX, with George Franklin Gathright and Mildred Oliver Adams listed as the parents. In the 1940 census, Vera C., 3 years old, is listed with George F. and Mildred Gathright (also in the household, Jesse F. and Evelyn Gathright). Charlette J., 7 years old, is also listed with them.
The Charles Lacy Family Tree (https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/120950883/person/411002965499/facts) seems to have some answers. It shows Mildred Oliver Adams marrying Charles Leroy Lacy on 30 May 1931 in Nolan County, TX. Charles then married Margarita Laura Harkey on 15 Nov 1936, so Charles and Mickey apparently divorced sometime before that. This family tree shows them having children Charlotte Jean Lacy (born 22 Jul 1932), William L. Bryant, and a third child, presumably Vera Colleen, shown as Private. An email from Stephanie Carson (dated 28 Mar 2020) states that they had children Charlotte Jean, William Carl, and Vera Colleen. She speculates that Mickey was pregnant when she and Charles divorced, but she married George Gathright and they put his name on the birth certificate. This is complicated by George's obituary, which says that they did not marry until 1938. Either that is a typo, or they were together for a few years before they married. Stephanie also says that there is a birth record for William Lacy Bryant (born 3 Jan 1935) and speculates that he was born to Charles and Mickey but they gave him up for adoption. The birth record shows W A Bryant and Nannie Lighton Lynch as parents, though. Not sure exactly what is going on, but Charlette, William, and Colleen are all listed as children in George's obituary (see his notes).
